Zionism came from the 19th century, it was funded by Baron de Rothschild, a member of the French branch of the Rothschild banking dynasty, the equivalent of a multi-billionaire today. The Zionists bought up land in Palestine from farmers, agricultural workers, peasants.
It was industrial capitalism in Europe that made this possible. Palestine was not a state in the European sense. The Zionist movement didn’t come from Palestine nor did its people; they came from Europe. Zionists were in all sectors of society, they were capitalists, they were small business people, they were even in the unions.
Lies about Israel, Hamas and the war on Gaza
Their objective was a Jewish state in Palestine populated by people from outside Palestine. They gained ground because Jewish people suffered under European antisemitism. In Germany Jewish people were part of the entire society, in business, in arts, is architecture and in the arts. Yet Nazism drove them out during economic depression in the 1930s.
The Zionist project could never work, at least you wouldn’t think so until the ruling class of European countries, and in particular Great Britain and the United States, backed it to the hilt for their own objectives. Lord Balfour promised Zionists a Jewish home in Palestine. He was unable to deliver on his promise during his lifetime.
But then came the Holocaust.
Israeli militia were formed in Palestine and began committing massacres against the Palestinians (Deir Yassin, 1947), in other towns and villages. In 1947, the Israeli militia (Hagannah and Irgun) drove people off their land. Palestinians call it the catastrophe, al Nakba.
Zionists bombed the King David Hotel killing half the British military command and a lot of civil servants. So the British left after having had a mandate over Palestine from 1917 till 1947.
After the war, In 1948, driven by European guilt about the Holocaust, the United Nations set up the state of Israel. Zionists created the myth of national liberation, a land for a people, in a land without people.
This is the lie that Israel is built on. Hollywood, gullible people from settler states like Australia, Canada and the US, colonialists like the British and the French, guilty Europeans and their ruling class help spread the lie to this day.
So let us see how the lie manifests itself, like a serpent, snaking through societies, with long tentacles to give effect to genocide of Palestinians, a people who came from the land only to be displaced by zionists who became fascist Israelis, settlers on a land that was never theirs.
