A person can only be born in one place. However, he may die several times elsewhere: in the exiles and prisons, and in a homeland transformed by the occupation and oppression into a nightmare. Without hope we are lost. I don’t decide to represent anything except myself. – Mahmoud Darwish.
Human beings have moved around the world for many reasons for a long time. Our motives are complex, but there is always a material element to migration. Ideas alone are insufficient.
Justice for Palestine Magan-djin did not celebrate on 7 October 2023. I personally was in shock and disbelief. I am still none the wiser as to what happened on that day.
JFP’s first demonstration was on 13 October 2023 in protest at the slaughter of Palestinians that began in 1948. We will commemorate our opposition to the genocide on its anniversary.
The article, The False Narrative of Settler Colonialism, says that university campuses celebrated the ‘attack by Hamas.’ In Brisbane, we had to wait six (6) months before there was a response from the University of Queensland (UQ). No other university in this state mounted an organised response, which tells me there is no organised mass movement of students against the genocide here or elsewhere. When I look at the size of the response in the US, it is, at best, marginal. Despite all the hoohaa.
The link below is to a new article by a Zionist. It shows Zionists are worried that the concept of “Settler Colonialism” developed by Patrick Wolfe has begun to cut through at the academic and potentially at the popular levels.
The article itself is dishonest in the extreme and runs counter to the findings of the New Historians in Israel.

The False Narrative of Settler Colonialism
The rise of an academic theory and its obsession with Israel
By Adam Kirsch

On october 7, Hamas killed four times as many Israelis in a single day as had been killed in the previous 15 years of conflict. In the months since, protesters have rallied against Israel’s retaliatory invasion of Gaza, which has killed tens of thousands of Palestinians. But a new tone of excitement and enthusiasm could be heard among pro-Palestinian activists from the moment that news of the attacks arrived, well before the Israeli response began. Celebrations of Hamas’s exploits are familiar sights in Gaza and the West Bank, Cairo and Damascus; this time, they spread to elite college campuses, where Gaza-solidarity encampments became ubiquitous this past spring. Why?
